But alas, the bash has been rescheduled for Oct 30 as 'Rough et Noir' - a slightly darker twist on the original, but just as delicious. For ten days every second March, Calgary becomes a hotbed of masks, puppetry and all things animated at the International Festival of Animated Objects (IFAO). The sixth biennial Festival will run March 8-17 at half a dozen venues in Inglewood & Ramsay, bringing the world’s leading practitioners of 21st century puppetry to Calgary audiences.
In addition to stage performances, the festival includes a lecture series, workshops, an exhibition and film screenings, exposing Calgarians to the world’s leading practitioners of 21st-century puppetry.

CALGARY’S FAMED COUNTRY FAIR-THEMED FESTIVAL RETURNS ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 4
It just wouldn’t be summer in the inner-city without the one-day outdoor celebration known as Sunfest! On Saturday, Aug. 4, Calgary’s original main street will come alive with the sights, sounds and country fair flair of Inglewood’s annual street festival.
Stretching four lively blocks along 9 Ave. S.E., the historic neighbourhood’s one-of-a-kind shops, prized boutiques and award-winning eateries will spill into the streets with promotions, displays and giveaways, while street performers, artist demos and a street-side fashion show round out the action-packed day of family-friendly fun that more than 30,000 people took part in last year. Adding to the country fair feel will be a vintage car show and the return of the main attraction from 2010 – the Sunfest Celebrity Pie-Eating Competition!

Emerging Alberta artists will steal the spotlight as Esker Foundation grand opening exhibition gives voice and opportunity to young Alberta artists
All eyes will be on a select group of 44 emerging Alberta artists as the focus of the Esker Foundation’s grand opening exhibition, The New Alberta Contemporaries, on display at the new Inglewood gallery from June 15 – August 29 in the stunning new Art Block building on 9 Ave. S.E.
Following the grand opening event, Esker has planned a dynamic lineup of art exhibitions that are free of charge to visitors, and the gallery will offer a regular and ongoing program of educational and ancillary events such as lectures and artist presentations to accompany the exhibitions.
For the third consecutive year, dozens of Inglewood’s finest eateries, shops and boutiques are teaming up to welcome the women of Calgary to the neighbourhood-wide party known as ‘Ladies Night.’
